Hi Mart,
Here are some pictures on the gauge and fuse kit. I have never seen the glycerin bottle so if you ever come across two of them let me know! It is to my knowledge that Messko, Germany made three gage faces that you may want to consider for your kit:
• 3.5 bar/50lb.
• 3.5 bar
• 50 lb.
They originally were made with a dark red/maroon bakelite case. They also were made in a black/very dark green case as well. The "Red" case came at a later date along with the "Red" pouch as replacement pieces. I see more of the black in Europe than I do here in the US and have also seen them advertised as the "912" Messko gauge. My feeling is that Porsche ordered the gauges in and put them in their tool crib. When it was time to make a kit what ever one was picked up was shipped!
The gauge and pouch that is most excepted here is the maroon with the gray vinyl pouch. More than likely it would be the "Red" case vs the maroon. Out of the 30 or so gages I have owned only 2 or 3 have been of the true "dark maroon" color. The gauges can be taken apart and the faces can be swapped around, so you can always buy two or three and make what you want. I don't have a picture of the 50 lb. gauge although my son has one of these I can take a picture of and send it to you if you like.
As far as E-Bay goes the best prices I have seen in the last couple of years have come out of Germany or Belgium.
Rumor control has it that Messko moved at some point to Switzerland and continued making their product. These are clearly marked with "Made in Switzerland" and they have a silver face vs the white face. Also the "Red" pouch is not stamped with the "Messko" logo. These were never in the Porsche toolkits.
Michael is the Swiss chap where most all of these gauges are coming from. He has the 100 bar and I think he may also have the 3.5 bar. The cases are red and the pouch is unmarked. The box may be a nice trivet to have? Messko also made a clear plastic box about the size of the cardboard/paper box. I have only seen one of these and passed it along to Camden, my son.
I bought the first gauge Michael sold and found him to be very nice and customer oriented. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Origi...spagenameZWDVW
Here is some talk about the gauges on a discussion board: http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ghlight=messko
Messko stamped red pouch, I paid 125.00 for this one
Original Maroon dual gauge
356 C suede pouch Dark red dual gauge
356 C and '65-'68 Gray vinyl pouch w/ Messko stamping. I have sold these for 100.00-150.00 each
Original Maroon 3.5 bar gauge
I have seen this color pouch with the dual gauge go for 200.00 to 350.00 on eBay. Off of E-Bay at swap meets I have paid 35.00-75.00 for them
Difference in color between the "Dark Red & Maroon" Gauges
Fuse Pack; They came with three different color/size fuses. I have also seen them without the "Pudenz" logo on them. I have seen these go for 100.00 on E-Bay
Aftermarket "Red Vinyl" fuse pouch, 356C & '65-'68 911/912. For my son's kit I purchased this with 5 fuses in it. At the time you could get them on E-Bay for 5-6.00 USD. I later bought an original dark maroon pouch with the "Pudenz" plastic fuse pack in it. It came out of a 1955 356 kit.
Overall I am not positive if the vinyl pouch just had the 5 fuses or if the fuses were in the plastic case inside the vinyl sleeve. I have very good reason to believe it came with one like I got from the 356 kit. The lady I bought it from for 13.00 bent my ear on the phone for two hours about her '55 356 and her early days with the "PCA". It was fun hearing all her stories!
These guys carry the Pundenz fuse pack and they have a distributor in Switzerland: http://www.nlaparts.com/catalog/inde...f859506504a554

and I have bought from him before) used to carry the aftermarket red vinyl fuse pack but I could not find it on his site. He also has the shop towels: http://www.eagleday.com/porsche.html
There is a fellow here in the states by the name of Scott Emsley, you can contact him here: [email protected] . He trades on e-bay as "Rowdy205". I have traded back and forth with Scott and also met him in California this past spring at a swap meet. He deals in the 356 and 911/912 kits up to 1973 and is probably the most knowledgeable person on the planet concerning these tools. He sells kits mostly but may have a single wrench or two for you. Please feel free to mention my name to him if you inquire on your tools.
I trust some of this may be of help to you. Have a safe and happy holidays!
Take care and let me know how you make out,
Glenn

M'n gereedschapssetje is nu bijna compleet.
